Chapter 6 OpenSSL Command Line Interface

HP SSL for OpenVMS provides a command line interface that allows you to use the cryptography functions of SSL's cryptography library from the OpenSSL command prompt (OPENSSL>). You can use the command-line interface for the following tasks:

  • Creating RSA, DH and DSA key parameters

  • Creating X.509 certificates, CSRs, and CRLs

  • Calculating message digests

  • Encrypting and decrypting with ciphers

  • Testing on SSL/TLS clients and servers

  • Handling of S/MIME signed or encrypted mail
