These web pages use the JavaScript programming language
for a couple purposes in addition to the common Hewlett-Packard web site uses.
Below is a description of each of these features.
frameset creation
When a book-content page is opened by itself (e.g. via a user bookmark or selecting a search result), JavaScript is used to provide the top navigation and table-of-contents frames.
table-of-contents toggling
JavaScript is used to remove and restore the table of contents for a book, when the "Hide TOC", "Show TOC" and "Collapse TOC" links are selected. When "Show" and "Collapse" are selected, JavaScript is used to synchronize the TOC with the content.
