  That's the Q-Logic ISP1040 controller? The Q-Logic manual makes no note
of that restriction, and specifically says "you can use any 2 of the 3 con-
nectors". So this restriction is a DEC-ism, and I don't know the reason for
it.

  2nd controllers are supported. I'm doing it with one controller with both
internal and external devices.

  The only catch is that if you're using narrow (8-bit) external devices
with internal wide devices, you need to go into the card's setup menu and
enable the internal high terminators, disable the internal low terminators,
and disable auto-termination.

  No. It's a HD68 Wide SCSI connector. I get my SCSI cables from CS Elec-
tronics (http://www.scsi-cables.com). A HD68T on one end and a C50 on the
other (I assume your external devices use C50) is a stock item in a variety
of lengths.

  The VAXstation 3100/3x and /4x use a HD68 of the wrong gender with a non-
standard pinout. The MicroVAX 3100's use C50. I don't recall what the VAX-
station 3100/76 uses.
