Recommendation: Get a SCSI disk. Long Answer: If the console doesn't see it, then OpenVMS won't. Verbose answer: Interestingly, I don't believe we are yet officially supporting any IDE disk drives on the OpenVMS platform -- the Personal Workstation series boxes (preferably those with the Cypress and not the Intel SIO) -- that first supported IDE CD-ROM drives. That said, I would not hold much hope of an IDE disk drive working on the Multia (UDB) series -- as far as the midnight hobbyist port of OpenVMS was concerned, many things just won't work on that box. (The target for the midnight work was basic bootstraps, graphics and DECwindows, basic network, and SCSI -- various of the other pieces on that box are known not to work.) --------------------------- pure personal opinion --------------------------- Hoff (Stephen) Hoffman OpenVMS Engineering hoffman#xdelta.zko.dec.com
