The previous builds of SOCKETSHR were by running the setup command and then just giving
the MMS or MMK command to use the DESCRIP.MMS file.

This resulted in different compile options being set.  The build using the command file was broken before I made my changes.  I have made some attempts to fix it, and the code now compiles cleanly.

However, the LINK is not working right.  Duplicate symbols on the TRACE variables.

Read the warnings about GETENV() in my first posted source before you attempt to 
fix.

This is an update to the previous posting of SOCKETSHR.  It was discovered that
SOCKETSHR would not compile correctly with current versions of DEC C.

This has not been tested, but will compile cleanly with normal options with
DEC C 5.8 on VAX/VMS 7.1

I do not know if these changes will stop GCC 2.8.1 from compiling SOCKETSHR.

I no longer have the ability to test this code since I have updated my system.
