Everhart, Glenn (FUSA) Good Day everyone;   I hope my mail is not disturbing you. I have been tracking all the information systems security issues for a the last 10 months. During this period, I have learnt a few things and 'Nuking' was the game. This time I went to the database layer in a client/server environment. Oracle is my database and SQL*Net v2.x was my victim. I used one of the nuking tools available on the web and targeted my attack to the listener port which is the default as every Oracle administrator knows it is number 1521. I was not surprised when all users has been suddenly been totally disconnected and transactions has not been completed. In addition the listener service went crazy. NT shows it active and running, but applications insists to report the listener is not available. If you try to shut it down then the NT server reports of the unavailability of it. At the end you have one choice; shutdown the whole server and startup everything again.   Thnx   Ayman   _____ The information transmitted is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or privileged material.
