I've got a couple of :SCSI drives in it (Seagate ST11900N and Fujitsu M2622SA), and I'm waiting :on a CD-ROM for it as well. Please see the OpenVMS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for details on the 1.073 GB limit on the system disk capacity. :I started it up, after installing the 2 :drives (SCSI ID 0 and 2 respectively and I get the following on boot: : :F...E...D...C...B...A...9...8...7?..6...5...4...3_..2_..1?.. : :?? 7 80A0 0100.71D0 : ? 6 80A1 0000.4001 :?? 1 00C0 0011.700E : :I know the ?? 1 means I've got nothing attached to the AUI port (which is :correct) and the ?? 6 means that I've got nothing attached to one of the :SCSI busses (SCSI-B, I believe) which is also correct. What I can't :understand is the ?? 7. Any ideas? The VAXstation 3100 self-test codes are posted at the OpenVMS Ask The Wizard area: http://www.openvms.digital.com/wizard/ 7 is the SCSI-A test. The following assume the output from TEST 50: The "?? 7 80A0 0100.71D0": indicates a serious error ("??"), SCSI-B (test 7), device 80 is the bitmask of successfully selected devices, XX the problem device bitmask, 71 indicates a problem on the system module, that a reset is required to clear the SCSI, that not all selected devices are operating properly, and that the DMA and interrupt tests were not performed. D0 further indicates that not all selected devices were operating properly. In the full test output, there is usually a second line of output associated with the error. You will likely want to terminate the external SCSI bus. As for the "?? 1 00C0 0011.700E" The NI test failed, heartbeat is reported as present, 11 retries were performed before success, and the 700E code is not listed in the book. This is indicating there is nothing connected, or possibly a problem with the power supply... Install the loopback, and power off and then back on. You will likely want to switch to the BNC and terminate it, or get the AUI loopback and terminate it. Remember to power-cycle the box. :Thanks in advance, and e-mail responses would be appreciated (I'll :summarize 'em and post 'em).
