There are _some_ ECOs :for V7.1-2, but you won't get the same level of bug fixes as with all :V7.1 ECOs. We are moving to a model with fewer ECO kits created, and -- unless specifically requested for a fix -- to roll-ups of fixes shipped out quarterly. There are roll-up kits presently available for V7.1-2: the most recent is: dec-axpvms-vms712_update02-v0100--4 :It seems hard for DEC to keep the ECOs for V7.1 and V7.1-2 in sync, :because the V7.1 are VMSINSTALlable kits and the V7.1-2 are (per new :DEC definition: only) PCSI kits. Means double work... Incrementally more work creating the KITINSTAL and PCSI files and testing is involved -- until folks have largely moved off of V7.1. More work, but certainly not double. :Some tries are visible to state that some VMSINSTAL kits are also usable :on V7.1-2, but gives sometimes other problems (eg. ALPMOUN06_071) and :finally is not what was defined for VMS starting with V7.1-2 (PCSI kits). There is a MOUNT kit underway for problems found with CD-ROM labels and such -- I know of a site that will soon be testing the images. VMSINSTAL ECO kits are not to be used for V7.1-2 and later, as they do not follow the tracking mechanisms -- regressions can thus arise. (I suspect the reference to "other problems" was a reference to the VMS$INSTALL_UPG_DATA.COM widget, and there is more involved to using VMSINSTAL ECO kits on V7.1-2 and later than just that.) -------------------------- pure personal opinion --------------------------- Hoff (Stephen) Hoffman OpenVMS Engineering hoffman#xdelta.zko.dec.com
