Libnet is a collection of routines to help with the construction and handling of network packets. It provides a portable framework for low-level network packet writing and handling. Libnet features portable packet creation interfaces at the IP layer and link layer, as well as a host of supplementary and c complementary functionality. Still in it's infancy however, the library is evolving quite a bit. Additional functionality and stability are added with each release. Using libnet, quick and simple packet assembly applications can be whipped up with little effort. With a bit more time, more complex programs can be written (Traceroute and ping were easily rewritten using libnet and libpcap). See for yourself how easy it is. Check out a src2htmlized version of libnet.. The current version is 0.99e. Libnet is designed and maintained by Mike D. Schiffman and route. Tons of people have helped. See the CONTRIB file in the library tarball and the contributions page. Back to Main Page. For more information on libnet contact route.
