With v1.3 or v1.4 onwards (I'm not sure which supports raw IP, but I'm sure Paul Anderson will be able to state that without a problem) you can initialize the queue on "IP_RawTCP/www.xxx.yyy.zzz:9100" for a JetDirect card and it's quite happy to print. The only thing I know of to watch _very_ carefully is the version of the IP stack you use. UCX v4.2 Eco 1 and onwards should be OK but v4.1 didn't seem to get on with DCPS v1.4 very well and resulted in quite a few crashes and hangs of the node that handled our printer queues. I also spoke to someone at Eureka98 in Paris and they'd had similar problems with Multinet IIRC (it certainly wasn't UCX anyway so you can't say "well that's UCX for you - go and buy Multinet" :-P ) For PrintServer 17s you need to use "IP_CPAP/www.xxx.yyy.zzz", although you probably aren't interested in that. There's no port specification required. Steve.
