There are two ways of setting a non-autosense card to 100 Mb/sec : a) Set it at the console, in which case the settings get saved b) Set it via LANCP in which case the settings get forgotten on the next reboot. There are also two settings for fast - one duplex and the other not. The fact that the light went out when the machine booted could indicate that there is a setting somewhere in the startups on the machine that sets the speed back to 10Mb/sec or, in the case of the DE500-BA it may be that the machine thinks the port is only set to 10 on the hub/switch/whatever.
