Actually, what is required is a (hardware?) support contract with Compaq/Digital. Given that, your CSE will supply the required PAK. However, you can also install and run DIAGNOSE _without_ a PAK if all you want is the /TRANSLATE services (which are _supposed_ to replace the old ANAL/ERROR). The PAK is required for analysis and notification (I think those are the proper terms). I think what trips up most people is that DIAGNOSE is _not_ installed by default when you install or upgrade the operating system. You need to install it as a layered product. Fortunately, you can always download the most current version of DECevent (DIAGNOSE) from the DECevent home page: http://www.service.digital.com/decevent/ Version 2.8 (for VMS) is current. -Ken -- Kenneth H.
