Depends what you want to do, but the following works for SLIP, and DDCMP on VAX. For the modem try AT&F1 - Get factory defaults with hardware flow control AT E1 - Modem echoes AT commands AT M1 - Speaker on until connected AT &S1 - Modem controls DSR AT S0=1 - Answer after one ring AT S15=32 - Use Delete key for Backspace AT S19=10 - Hang up after 10 minutes without data AT&W - save the setup Obviously the - bits are comments and not meant to be typed in. For the terminal setup (in this example I'm using TTA2 and a speed of 19200, but you should substitute your own speed and terminal device) $ SET TERM/PERM/SPEED=19200/ECHO/TYPE/HOSTSYNC/TTSYNC/ALTYPE/NOPASTHRU - /HANGUP/DISCONNECT/DEVICE=VT2/INSERT/DIALUP/NOPARITY/EIGHTBIT - /MODEM/SYSPASSWORD TTA2: The /SYSPASSWORD stops spurious logins caused by modem responses, and gives you the extra security of having to enter the password before you even get as far as the "Username:" prompt. This helps stop 13 year old hackers causing World War 3, providing you choose a sensible password :-) -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.3i Charset: noconv iQCVAwUBNlHBRgFrKHWv1IPxAQHByAQAxbCrZF+fjOoVBeWFbEPW3745kAr0Vx8t syIMKA7QyilBJQfpLbgR9m2YnpQXw+MPZiW/e+N1079tExoa3HgX1Regc+/ok20c nK4x6WE1BRRxLEPsubSrGlHYL5bec5WITz0idh5oT+RlMuBeAv94jGUa0LtTA8af kTm4c04TpyI= =6a5Z -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Phil Ottewell, PGP Key ID: 0xAFD483F1, http://www.pottsoft.demon.co.uk/ http://www.yrl.co.uk/~phil/
