Several contributors to this group have used it successfully. http://premium.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q178/3/22.asp CAVEATS: 1) Ignore the readme's description of how to install; just use the oemsetup.inf instead (see author's Jan. note below). 2) It does not support NdisWan yet (see authors Feb. note below). 3) Two nt-kernel contributors have reported auto start problems, as far as I know (I'm one of them) this has not been resolved. These problems may be driver load order related. STATUS: ImSamp's status as of Feb 6, 1998 was: > > I've been working on the next rev of ImSamp that will layer over NdisWAN as > well as LAN cards. > I'm almost done, and will make it available as soon as it's complete. > Thanks for your support on the newsgroups. I've dedicated my time to > upgrading the sample, rather than answering questions out there. I thought I > could help more people, more quickly, with an updated sample. > As soon as I'm done, I'll replace the ZIP on the Microsoft Web page, and > post a notification on the news group. > > Jim > ImSamp's status as of early January was: > >Jeff, > The readme was written before I had an OEMSETUP.INF. The right way to >install the sample is to use NCPA (in the control panel), and point it to >the OEMSETUP.INF that is included. This INF will install the sample between >TCPIP and your NIC card. The only thing it won't do yet, is break the >existing bindings between TCPIP and your NIC. I'm working on that feature, >but for now, you'll have to do it by hand. >There are a couple of other bugs reported, that will be fixed in the next >rev. One of them involves the Adapter->RefCount being decremented (in >DeRefAdapter), without being incremented. In ClReceivePacket(). Another >bug is in NDISREQ.C, where I set the NDIS_MAC_OPTION_FULL_DUPLEX bit. This >causes the sample to assert on multi proc machines. This bit should not be >set. > >Jim > -- Jeffrey Vandegrift Voice: 978.371.3983, Fax: 978.371.3990 Email at Work: jvande@tril-inc.com Email at Home: jvande@alum.mit.edu - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [ To unsubscribe, send email to ntdev-request@atria.com with body UNSUBSCRIBE (the subject is ignored). ] ================== RFC 822 Headers ================== Return-Path: owner-ntdev@atria.com Received: by norlmn.gce.com (UCX V4.1-12C, OpenVMS E7.1-1H1 Alpha); Mon, 9 Feb 1998 18:14:24 -0500 Received: from gw.atria.com (gw.atria.com [192.88.237.2]) by mercury.mv.net (8.8.8/mem-971025) with ESMTP id PAA07584 for ; Mon, 9 Feb 1998 15:38:11 -0500 (EST) Received: by gw.atria.com id Mon, 9 Feb 1998 11:26:40 -0500 (EST) Received: from mail1.noc.netcom.net by gw.atria.com id Mon, 9 Feb 1998 11:26:35 -0500 (EST) Received: from faramir.tril-inc.com (faramir.tril-inc.com [207.221.172.4]) by mail1.noc.netcom.net (8.8.7/8.8.5) with SMTP id IAA03289 for ; Mon, 9 Feb 1998 08:19:02 -0800 (PST) Received: from legoloas.tril-inc.com by faramir.tril-inc.com (NTMail 3.02.08) with ESMTP id ia014984 for ; Mon, 9 Feb 1998 11:31:12 -0500 Message-ID: <34DF2F59.5EE669A0@alum.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 09 Feb 1998 11:31:21 -0500 From: Jeffrey Vandegrift Reply-To: jvande@alum.mit.edu Organization: dutch.org X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.04 [en] (WinNT; I) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: ntdev@atria.com, DDK-L@PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM Subject: [ntdev] FYI: ImSamp, NDIS 4.0 Intermediate Driver Sample Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-ntdev@atria.com Precedence: bulk X-Majordomo-Taboo: ntdev
