Jeff Goodwin has already detailed his official response from GENICOM as delivered through DIGITAL. I have no new information to add, except to summarize the problem and describe a workaround. We are not "unenthusiastic" about fixing this, but we need to find the best way, if any, to solve this in DCPS. The format of PJL return status messages is causing DCPS to abort, leave the queue in a stopped state and place the job on hold. We believe that most HP 5 series printers, and probably HP 6 series printers, will cause similar problems to DCPS. To avoid this problem when connecting to PJL-knowledgable printers, send down the escape commands which disable PJL return messages. %12345X @PJL USTATUSOFF %12345X It has been reported that Windows NT and NetWare systems turn unsolicited PJL messages back on, so turning off the messages with the above sequences is temporary. We are looking into how to best react to this in a future version of DCPS.
