Sorry I can't help you with your ANU compile problem, but... I was running ANU news for two years with constant headaches and wasted time. It seemd I was permanently running reorgs or rebuilding indexes. A half year ago, I stumbled across Netwin's DNEWS server (http://netwinsite.com/dnews.htm) . It only costs a few hundred dollars, and it is brilliant software. I have completely forgotten that it is running on my server - there is no management necessary, and disk usage is down by 95% since DNEWS supports a "sucking" mode where only those newsgroups get pulled from an upstream site which are actually being read, as opposed to a full feed where the vast majority of all articles get expired unread. And it can even validate users against SYSUAF. Do yourself a favor and convert to DNEWS - you will free a disk or two, and leave the office a lot earlier. Cheers, Christian PS: I am in no way afilliated with the company that produces it, other than that I am an unconditionally pleased customer.
