NT DDK Partly Baked Idea (PBI) #1381: You know, it seems to me that this solves the "NT Server checked build" problem. Since (as is by now common knowledge) ntoskrnl.exe, halxxx.dll, and xxxdriver.sys are bit-for-bit identical between Workstation and Server (there are just MORE xxxdriver.sys's, and a bunch more .exe's and .dll's, in Server, plus some registry changes), one could copy ntoskrnl.exe and hal.dll and yourdrivers.sys from a checked workstation to a free server and get a checked server... except for the extra stuff that comes with server, which for driver development probably isn't too important. Those components will still be there, they just won't be checked versions. Someone else, please try this on a Server system that you don't care about, and let us know the results. :-) --- Jamie Hanrahan, Kernel Mode Systems, San Diego CA Internet: jeh@cmkrnl.com (JH645) CompuServe: 74140,2055 drivers, internals, networks, applications, and training for VMS and Windows NT NT driver FAQ, links, and other information: http://www.cmkrnl.com/ Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
