Article 160306 of comp.os.vms: Only recently, the theme of PPP came up on here on INFO-VAX. As it happens, at the same time I was busy at my home VAX getting my own PPP software to run (mostly intended for a "PPP client", since I don't provide dial-in service there :-). A preliminary "test" kit (V0.2) for CMU-IP is available from ftp://GWDW04.GWDG.DE/VMS/PPP02.ZIP and ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/vms/ppp02.zip This kit contains only sources and requires a C compiler (preferably GCC V2.7) to build. Some experience with CMU-IP SLIP or CSLIP is required, since PPP needs a completely analogous INTERNET.CONFIG setup. Only for CMU-IP I know how to funnel IP packets between the "kernel" software and an external program. However, if you (like me) have an idle Vs2000 on your LAN that currently doesn't run IP, there's an experimental companion kit, PPP02ETH.ZIP, which allows for building a stand-alone PPP <=> Ethernet relay program, which can serve some LAN-based IP host (with any sort of IP stack) - via ARP, it'll "impersonate" the remote PPP partner. I'm curious if there's any utility to this concept... Wolfgang J.
