[New] I'm getting married in October. GIFs may be posted soon after that date ! I'm not allowed to take my VAX on the honeymoon - what am I going to do ?

[Green LED] I've ported the excellent GIF Animation tool GIFMerge to VMS VAX and Alpha. The source, in the GIFMERGE.ZIP file, is downloadable from here. GIFMERGE.COM sets up a foreign symbol pointing to itself, and does the wildcard expansion and mimics the Unix > pipe syntax so that you can use it in the manner advertised by the help. I haven't made it parse out the -pos arguments for small, incremental GIF merges yet, but that's coming soon.

Ah-ha! Welcome to Phil's Home Page. It's not really my home of course - just a replica built in cyberspace. But it is a page. Watch this space for Motif tips, C hints, example programs, and OpenVMS chatter. Ah-ha !

The pages you will find here are all "under construction", so please bear with me as I try and knock them into shape. I intend to beef up the Motif page with quite a few example programs once I get the time, so keep your eye on that.

Interests

My current employment at Yezerski Roper Ltd. allows me to combine my hobby, playing with computers, with making a living, which is a pretty good trick if you can manage it.

Before starting at Y.R.L. I was a Manchester High Energy Physics Ph.D. student at CERN, working on the WA69 Omega Photon Experiment. After completion, I became a Research Associate for two years, during which time I was the de facto system manager of the Manchester HEP VAXes. In February 1989, shortly after my group switched experiments to DESY, I joined Yezerski Roper Ltd.
