The DQ driver does not support just any IDE controller. For instance in my PWS500au there is a IDE controller, but VMS does not support it, not even for the CD-Rom. That makes it very unlikely that you can get such a setup running. However there is a SCSI -> IDE converter that I've tested. It will let you connect any type of IDE drive to a SCSI UW bus. It is the Acard AEC-7720UW, you can find it on http://www.acard.com . I'm going to use it with a Western Digital 800JB (80GB) drive in my PWS. I did the initial test with another IDE drive, and the whole thing reacted just like a SCSI drive. Even the drive type is visible with show device DK. The only problem is that the adapter is higher then the drive, and that means I can only use it on the top drive. On the lower drive it would block the connector for the upper drive. rifepe@langran.iem.csic.espam wrote: >I have and alphaserver 4100, I will need to add an online file storage >as cheap as posible to keep it running. >I would like to know if anyone has any experiencies with PCI IDE controlers. >An it has been any good, for dicusions of the DS alphaserver seems that >most of the IDE disk would work with the DQDRIVER. > >Thanks > >Ricardo >
