*~L~* *Language Tool Bar - Hide* Upon first installing Windows XP, you'll notice a language toolbar on your Taskbar. For example, if you use the English version, it will have a button that says EN on it. This feature comes in handy if you need to switch between languages quickly, just click the current language and select another in the pop-up menu. To hide this toolbar, Right click a blank area of the Taskbar, select Toolbars, then select (to deselect) Language Bar. HOW TO: Use the Language Bar in Windows XP *Legal Notice Dialog Box Before Login *Start/Run/Regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon Modify the value named 'LegalNoticeCaption' to represent the caption on the dialog box (e.g. 'WARNING!'). Modify the value named 'LegalNoticeText' to represent the body of the dialog box (e.g. 'Do Not Attempt to Logon to this system unless you are an authorized user!') Both methods are detailed below: *Using the Registry:* Open your registry and find the key below. Set the value of "LinksFolderName" to equal a blank string. Open IE and delete the Links folder from the Favorites menu. The next time you start Internet Explorer the Links folder will not be recreated. *Using File Attributes: *Using Explorer find the location of your Favorites folder (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\Joe Bloggs\Favorites) within that folder will be a sub-folder named Links. Select the Links folder and right-click (or secondary click) and select Properties, check the Hidden checkbox and click OK. From now on the Links folder should be hidden from the Favorites list. This works for any other folder or link on the favorites menu as well. Note: The Links folder must be manually deleted from the favorites menu. This tweak stops it being automatically recreated.
