 LineControl Server 2.1.9
 by S. Fuchs - Wednesday, February 27th 2002 15:04 EST

About: LineControl allows you to remotely control the Internet connection of a Linux masquerading server using multiple clients. It takes care with the number of clients using the connection and decides upon this number whether the connection should be up or down. The clients show the time the connection is up and throughput statistics. Different connection types are supported, such as analog modems, ISDN, or even cable modems and ADSL devices.

Changes: A fix for a possible segfault during linesrv.conf parsing, and correctly logging closed connections to MySQL. One MySQL/logging-related problem still remains; see linesrv-2.1/server/NEWS in the linesrv package for details.

 srvx 1.0.3 (Stable)
 by Entrope - Wednesday, February 27th 2002 14:44 EST

About: srvx is a services package written in C from the ground up, for IRC networks that are based on IRCu 2.10.*. It is both highly efficient and extensible. Its features include Wingate, SOCKS4, and SOCKS5 proxy detection, and all the standard services users expect (ChanServ, NickServ, OpServ, Global).

Changes: This release supports ircu's +D channel mode. For security, NickServ can require fully qualified addressing for commands involving passwords (for example, "/msg NickServ@YourNet auth password" instead of "/msg NickServ auth password"). OpServ will check alerts when a user changes their nick, in addition to when they log on to the network. OpServ will log users joining a channel during a join flood. ChanServ tracks the maximum visitors in a channel, and the last time a ban was triggered. Many small bugs were fixed.

 Smtpblock 2.1
by David Bellizzi - Wednesday, February 27th 2002 14:34 EST

About: Smtpblock is a tool that parses your UNIX mail log. When new mail messages are detected it performs an SMTP relay test to determine if the remote host allows the relaying of third party mail. If the remote host relays third party mail, Smtpblock creates a firewall rule to block access to the local host's SMTP port.

Changes: A fix for a logic bug that would block hosts that passed the relay test, and standardized log messages.

 Dnsmasq 1.3
by Simon Kelley - Wednesday, February 27th 2002 14:34 EST

About: Dnsmasq is lightweight, easy to configure DNS forwarder designed to provide DNS (domain name) services to a small network where using BIND would be overkill. It can be have its upstream DNS servers automatically configured by PPP or DHCP and it can serve the names of local machines which are not in the global DNS. It can integrate with the ISC DHCP daemon to serve the names of local machines which are configured using DHCP. Dnsmasq is ideal for networks behind NAT routers and connected via modem, ISDN, ADSL, or cable-modem connections.

Changes: A fix for a bug which caused 1.2 to bomb out with some early 2.4 series Linux kernels.
