Perl 5.7

Perl is a very useful language which is strong with strings and
system interfacing. It is said that almost anything that can be done
in unix shell scripts or with unix tools can be done with perl,but
perl runs on everything (yes, VMS too!). It is a very handy tool
for running small to moderately complex jobs that can be assembled
quickly (much more readable than Teco!) and can be used for large
jobs sometimes also, partly due to its huge number of plugins.
