 cdrecord
 by N/A - Friday, March 13th 1998 10:32 EST

Cdrecord creates home-burned CDs with a CD-R/CD-RW recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications. Cdrecord supports CD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc and ATAPI/mmc compliant drives should also work. Supported features include: IDE/ATAPI, parallel-port, and SCSI drives; audio CDs, data CDs, and mixed CDs; full multi-session support, CD-RWs (rewritable), TAO, DAO and human-readable error messages.

[»] scg driver for Solaris
by George - Dec 15th 1999 18:35:45

Has anyone gotten the `scg` driver to work on Solaris x86?

I instaled it and it loads into the kernel, but the 'drvconfig; devlinks' commands don't seem to create the /dev/scg file. I'm using Solaris 7 on Intel.

[»] More info about CDR99
by Evelyn Mitchell - Jun 29th 2000 12:10:44

I wrote Jörg for more details about CDR99.

He received samples a few weeks ago. They have an
ATIP of:

ATIP info from disk:
Indicated writing power: 4
Is not unrestricted
Is not erasable
ATIP start of lead in: -10981 (97:35/44)
ATIP start of lead out: 359849 (79:59/74)
Disk type: unknown
Manuf. index: 0
Manufacturer: Unknown old Manufacturer code

The expected retail price will be below $2USD (4DM).

He wasn't sure if they will be supported by most readers.
They definately will require special writers because they
are not Red Book Compliant.

His plans:
"I hope to be able to write a RAW mode CD with a self made TOC in a few days. I then will be able to do test with read compatibility.

Write compatibility will take another set of tests...."

Thanks Jörg!

Evelyn
