                        and information about
                        the most requested bands
                        and songs on the site.

                        Once the Kick
                        application is
                        downloaded and a
                        password-protected
                        account has been
                        created, a small "music
                        companion" window
                        resides within the
                        browser to deliver news
                        while allowing users to
                        continue surfing.

                        "The reason piracy is
                        there is because that's
                        the easiest way for
                        people to get music,"
                        Skyrm said. "Go to Sony
                        Music and you can
                        purchase music, but it's
                        a slow, clunky process.
                        That's what we are
                        trying to bridge -– the
                        gap between piracy and
                        easy access to
                        information."

                        While you can't buy
                        concert tickets from
                        Kick.com, the site does
                        allow you to purchase
                        new CDs and merchandise
                        through links to online
                        retail stores such as
                        Amazon.com and CDNow.
