Is this a possibility? It was probably me waffling on about the Samsung 17GLsi. It has worked with every machine I've tried it with (4 or 5 types of VAXstation and a similar number of Alphas). Why not persuade a dealer to let you try one on a sale or return basis ? I can only tell you that I've been pleased with mine. I've also seen the Liyama 17" multi-synch monitor working on VMS Alphas, and the image quality looks good. The sort of information you need to check is what horizontal and vertical refresh frequencies you need, and whether the monitor supports BNC input with sync on green. For example, some while ago Matt Thomas from DEC posted a table giving typical values for Alphas and VAXen: |They will use one of these three values: | |Resolution Vertical (hz) Horiz. (Khz) Bandwidth (Mhz) | |"1024x864" 72.03 57.38 74.30 |"1280x1024" 66.51 70.70 119.84 |"1280x1024" 72.56 77.17 130.8 | |And sync is always on green. A typical VLC with a 1280x1024 resolution will have 77KHz horizontal refresh rate, 72Hz vertical refresh rate and a 130MHz pixel clock rate. Most decent muliti-synch monitors work all this out whe you plug them in. The Monitor Database on the following page is useful for getting the spec of various monitors: http://www.nashville.net/~griffin/ Hope this helps. - Phil Ottewell -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.3i Charset: noconv iQCVAwUBM5ddgAFrKHWv1IPxAQEPmQQAgOyACE/2Rl5i0a9KGQtMg4+rQXlcVhxO XOy10LXp/YWu7xHRAlummK/PqnU7E57JDoQggBVW4BJyTz4glPyFrGsJrG4bfS+P vgpobQmXwTyWyjX2RifSMtL+CynpPsuWXO7wf5QfNqa8T0uDOorZ8yVwHr0QAVXL 3gKQ551QDBA= =T0Mu -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
