BTW- The LEI articles appeared in the Jan 1993 issue of the DSJ. You referenced them in your letter. THe article was actually com- posed about 8 months or more prior to that publication date. The DSJ never move too quick on anything! I have e-mail on editorial issues related to that article prior to the pub date. My article in the file system locks also appeared in the DSJ prior to my date of employ with ASCI. It talks about, in great depth, each of the items in the "|letterman's top 10" list. The only issue pertaining to Spiralog in that list is that the items mentions were reported to not work with Spiralog -- the items themselves are not Spiralog issues but VMS,RMS,XQP and ODS2 issues and all well documented in many a many a publication from Digital and outside Digital!
