Title: WWW-PROXY.PA.DEC.COM proxy working? Reply Title: Connections from MSO are VERY SLOW !! I didn't know which subtopic to put this note under, but I figured this one would be a good place since I have been using pa.dec.com as my HTTP proxy server on Netscape to access the Web (external) for quite some time. I have recently changed facilities and have moved from AKO (Acton,MA) to MSO2 (Maynard. MA and Corporate HQ). I am losing patience with the amount of time I have to wait to get connected to web sites outside Digital. The response time between what I had at AKO and what I have here in MSO2 is light years apart !! What gives ?? I hear there has been a recent problem with the pa.dec.com server being "hung up" ...or something. I have tried setting my Netscape HTTP proxies as follows: 1. www-proxy.pa.dec.com 2. www-proxy.crl.dec.com 3. www-proxy.shr.dec.com 4. alcyone.det.dec.com I find that ONE of these settings works, on a given day or time. Last week, I could only get outside by using shr or crl. Today, I can get outside by using pa or shr. No matter what I use, the connect time is EVER SO SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW ....... Why did I have better luck connecting from AKO ? Does anybody have a suggestion as to what I should be using for my HTTP proxy to get faster connection out of MSO2. Could it be that GPS did something to one of my files when they came in to give me network access from MSO after I moved here ? You would think that system performance and connectivity out of a building that is supposed to be Corporate HQ would be better than from other facilities. I guess that's a bad assumption ! Help, please ... DF
