VMS SCSI PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

* SCSI codebase design is not written
* Group members with oral tradition are gone
* Inconsistent interfaces in code cropping up

Architecture was commissioned to make maintenance & enhancement easier

Top level document exists.

Result of the effort is shaping up with these characteristics:

* Cleaned up internal interfaces
* More consistent & useful error reporting
* Incrementally buildable (port-class interface largely unaltered)
* Specific projects will design consistently and document work

Specific early projects under consideration include

* Enhanced controls over SCSI feature use
* Support for wider addresses
* Data structure and interface cleanup (and glue)
* Rationalization of error handling
* Command cancellation with less SCSI RESET
