Bograt's Guide To Setting the System Serial
Number on Your 6000 series VAX

Hi there. Jus' suppose yew want t'change the system serial number
on yer VAX 6000-xxx system. It's amazin' jus' how simple it is t'do.
None o'that messy fiddlin' with jumpers and stuff like on them
ol'VAX-11/xxxs.

Step th'first: Shut down yer VAX in the manner of yer choosin' and halt
                it.

Step th'second: Now in console mode, yew should press th'followin' keys --
                <ESC><BACKSPACE>SET SYSTEM SERIAL<RETURN>

It'll then prompt yew fer the new number.

REMEMBER -- BEFORE YEW DO THIS, WRITE DOWN TH'OLD NUMBER.
THIS CAN CAUSE YER VMS LICENSE TO ACT REAL FUNNY-LIKE, AND
YEW MIGHT WANT T'SET IT BACK AFTERWARD.

YEW JUS' MIGHT HAV'T'DO A "UPDATE ALL"-TYPE COMMAND TO
UPDATE ALL'O'THEM CPU'S. THAT COMMAND BE DOCUMENTED, SO
                IT AIN'T NO PROBLEM.

Anyways, that's all there's t'do -- real handy on them do-it-yerself cpu
installashuns.

Have fun, kids. It ain't addictive, an'it won't make yew go blind, neither.
