Both were written up in a Pageswapper article in 1981 or 82. the first one will sound the bell continuously. The second will if keyclick is turned on make the terminal sound a different tone of bell with each key pressed. IE it turns it into a VT100-ORGAN. >.-. >|T|he [2;9y is documented as a self-test. To do this test, set the terminal in smooth scroll with a speed as high as possible. turn off flow control so the terminal can not tell the VAX to stop sending characters. No blast characters at the screen. When the buffer fills up and the terminal can not tell the VAX to stop sending characters an error message is sent to the screen. On the early terminals this message should not be repeated in polite company. DEC has recalled the early PROM set on all terminals they could find. * *---Art * *Arthur T.
