I'll be releasing a new version of JOBLOG this week. The source will be posted to vmsnet.sources and it will also be available via anonymous FTP from gumby.cc.wmich.edu. If you don't run it already, I would suggest waiting for the new version. The new version will be 1.2. This version is mostly bug fixes. The big bug that was fixed was the dropping of reads on the TTY, something that PHOTO still has a problem with (at least the last version I had). The I/O was redone and sped things up considerably. One of the features that some people have told me they would like in JOBLOG is PHOTO compatiblity. Some people don't need secure logging and the other features that come with JOBLOG; they just want to be able to log sessions and don't want to be bothered having to INSTALL it, create system logicals and directories, etc. If I get a chance, I'll add it to 1.2. The code would be #ifdef'd so all you'd have to do is turn on a #define in the source and build it. Version 1.3 will work with the new FTDRIVER that is available under VMS 5.4 and will hopefully be available sometime in early February. -- Leonard Peirce Internet: peirce@gumby.cc.wmich.edu Western Michigan University peirce@gw.wmich.edu Academic Computing Services UUCP: ...!uunet!sharkey!wmichgw!peirce Kalamazoo, MI 49008 Phone: (616) 387-5469
