You will not find any documentation on them anywhere in the VMS documentation set. Most annoying... but that's the way it is right now. Now that I have said that... If you are interested in what the resource files can do for you... 1 - Take a look at the System Defaults resource files (in DECW$SYSTEM_DEFAULTS) for examples on what these files can contain, and what they can do for you. 2 - The ULTRIX manuals do contain information on the resource files. In some cases (not all) the information that applies to ULTRIX, also applies to VMS. 3 - There will [probably] be a talk on this at DECUS Las Vegas [I'm waiting for my paperwork to come back]. I'm collecting "favorite resources" and if you have one you would like to contribute please E-mail it to me. Keep in mind that DEC may change DECwindows resource names "in a future release", what works now may break in the future. But on the other hand, you can do some neat things with them... My favorite is: In DECW$SM_GENERAL.DAT change the sm.pointer_shape line to a negative even number (-142 is the one I use), save the file and then use the "Last Saved Setttings" choice in the session manager pull-down menu. Instead of a DECwindows cursor, you will get one of the Xwindows cursors (-142 is the Trek cursor). If you want to find other cursors look in cursorfont.h in DECW$INCLUDE.
