"Customize" offers a number of very useful features, but there :are still some additional things that I would like to do. I would like to be :able not only to create several windows at startup (I'm already doing that), :but I would also like to specify their sizes and placement on the screen :I'm currently running VMS 5.3. Can anyone point me in the right direction :with some suggestions or a sample startup file? Thanks in advance, : : Pete Bradley : PBRADLEY@TRINCC.BITNET : Here is some information that may be useful. Most DECwindows applications use a resource file to store default information. These files are DECW$*.DAT files (by default located in SYS$LOGIN - really DECW$USER_DEFAULT). To place a window in a specific place and set a specific size use the *geometry: resource. The format is WxH+x+y where W = Width in pixels, H = Heighth in pixels, +x is the number of pixels on the x axis and +y is the number of pixels on the y axis, both x and y is a count from the origin (usually upper left corner). The above is very basic and ignores many customizations that an application can make. You may be able to look at some of the OOTB applications (calendar,clock,etc...) that comes with DECWindows to gather some more ideas. Remember that resource names are case sensitive. Hope this helps somewhat. :P.S. Sadly, I've seen a number of vicious flames directed at basic questions : lately. Please, no RTFM flames, (I don't have the docs yet and won't for : a while, or I wouldn't be asking). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Coburn !Email: Digital Equipment Corporation ! coburn@clovax.enet.dec.com -or- Enterprise Integration Services ! coburn%clovax.enet@decwrl.dec.com Cleveland, Ohio ! ...!decwrl!clovax.enet!coburn ================================================================================
