FOR 10 I have been chasing around the boot rom for some time. Finding the method for getting the checking method for rom 0 and rom 1 for the 100b didn't take much time. Apparently to check the character generator rom, a loopback path is set up from the video output of the video processo(DC12 pin 18) to E62 pin 4b out pin 12 to pin 10 of E33 (both 74LS157's) out pin 9 to pin 9 of the MPSC which apparently gets the video data onto the BAD bus (This is all traced from the 100A schematics - - I haven't been able to get a set of the 100B schematics). Thus anything that gets to the screen, due to loopback is available to the microprocessor. I think that I have found the code that constructs the strings sent to the screen and the code that sets up the the loopback path and possibly the code that does the check summing. It appears that they don't us as high degree a polynomial as for the roms 0 and 1 but I haven't put it all together yet. There are five(!) check numbers for the character rom. Why all that sweat to check something that would be so obvious to a uses as a messed up character?
