We are in the process of setting up NEWS for our node. How can I >interface NEWS with PMDF?? I couldn't find an answer do far. Any help is very >much appreciated. It is very easy. One thing that news can do is read the pmdf queue files which means you do not have to first put the newsitems into a VMS mail file and then extract them. What I have done is to create an alias entry for a user as follows netnews: netnews@news.action In the pmdf configuration file you put an entry as follows news.action $u@news.action action_news 822 slave news.action Pmdf queues all the news batches for the channel action_mail. Once a day I submit a batch job to update the news system. $ ! Extract the new mail received and place it in the news system $ $ news/noscreen add file/delete pmdf_root:[queue]action_*.00 Another way of doing this is to create a news channel in the master.com file which does the update when news batches are received. This would require the removal of the slave option from the channel definition.
