It uses VMS-mail in each direction. We have it set up so that it's satisfactory. (i.e. We'll keep using it while waiting to find out that someone's written a PMDF channel for DECUS UUCP, or writing one ourselves.) From PMDF to UUCP we use a `mail_' channel like: mail_vngate daemon vngate logging queue pmdf_batch VNGATE:: ccavax.camb.com uucp-gateway VNGATE is a logical that expands to UUCP%. From UUCP to PDMF we use [INCOMING-FROM] rules in MAIL_REWRITE.RULES (for each of the relevant hosts/domains) similar to ora!* in%"ora!\001" One of the problems with the UUCP to PMDF direction is that PMDF does not realize that the body of the message has 822 header lines. (UUCP, like PMDF, had nothing better it could do with these when delivering to VMSmail.) These header lines then remain as part of the body text. Now PMDF has some `smarts' in recognizing mail from itself on the local channel, to avoid doing this sort of thing. One example is mail that arrives from PMDF to a VMSmail account where the user has set forwarding to in%something. Is there a way to tell PMDF that mail received on the local channel from UUCP%anything has 822 mail headers at the start of its text? Is there another way to address this problem? -- .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | Bob Tinkelman | Internet: bob@ccavax.camb.com | | Cambridge Computer Associates, Inc. | UUCP: ...!uunet!ccavax!bob | | 56 Beaver Street, 3rd floor | AT&T: 212-425-5830 | | New York, NY 10004 | | `-----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
