Remember you can't patent code, only the idea; you copyright code. The question that a patent court is going to look at was did they invent the idea of watching terminals (surely not), or the technology to do it (surely DEC invented the port/class interface!). I hope you can encourange DECUS to stand up to the rights of all of its members on this one.
