This problem manifested itself here when we got our VS3500 running VMS4.7A with a TK70. After building the system I was unable to do a standalone backup because of this error. A software patch is available from field service - it was originally distributed to our office around 19 January. Note that this problem affects TU81+ drives too, although it seems to be more accute on TK70's because they generate more errors. If you can't get the patch then let me know and I'll send you a copy.
