Following will be a posting in 5 parts of Termlock v1.16. For current users of Termlock, the differences between this version and the last public release (v1.07) are as follows (I hope I remember everything!): [] Remote command execution: (for the user running Termlock only) By sending messages "to himself" a person running Termlock on another terminal than the one he is currently on can perform a few functions... [] :status sends back info on number of msgs of what type [] :message allows re-definition of the reply-message [] :logout log out the Termlock process from afar [] :help display the list of remote commands [] User-defined location (and name of) Termlock log file. (via the TERMLOCK$LOGFILE logical) [] System-wide timeout that will restrict the maximum amount of time that a Termlock process can run (settable by the system manager at a specific site). (via the TERMLOCK$SYSTEM_TIMEOUT logical) [] User-defined timeout (restricted by the system-wide one above). (via the TERMLOCK$TIMEOUT logical) [] "improved" (but still VT-100 specific) screen layout. [] Properly handles the NODE::USER bug in JNET's SEND command that previously would cause Termlock's subprocess to commit suicide. Now, JNET 3.3 users have PHONE replies disabled (until JNET fixes the bug) via #ifdef's. [] Fixes the "F6" bug that previously caused Termlock to drop to DCL (no questions asked), and get around to the exit handler later. Now, F6 does nothing. [] Fixed a minor bug where receiving a message while locking would lock the terminal by default (whether or not the password was confirmed). Now, it unlocks by default. [] Included a BUILD.COM to automate compilation of Termlock. (This command file also determines which version of JNET you are running.) Please note, if you were on my "update distribution list" and have received an interim version of Termlock, please update! Otherwise, you will still have some of the bugs fixed above (the F6 bug has been in there since the beginning!). In other words, if you have anything other than v1.16 now, you should upgrade. :-) The 5-part VMS_SHARE file includes TERMLOCK.C, the source code, TERMLOCK.DOC, the ducumentaion in text format, and BUILD.COM, the compilation command file, as well as a copy of this message (as TERMLOCK.UPDATE). I hope you enjoy the program!
