Subject: MX V3.3 is now available!!

Message Exchange (MX) V3.3 is hereby officially released. MX is electronic
mail software for VMS that supports Internet mail, BITNET mail, UUCP mail,
and mailing list and file serving functions.

MX V3.3 includes the following new features:

  o OpenVMS AXP V1.0 and higher is now supported by MX. The MX port is
     100% native-mode code---there are no VESTed images in MX V3.3.

  o Binary files can now be sent using MAIL/FOREIGN to other MX V3.3
     sites, as well as sites running PMDF V4.1 or higher or MultiNet v3.2
     or higher.

  o BITNET messages can now be sent in NETDATA format in additon to PUNCH.

  o MX now allows multiple VMS Mail "From:" addresses if there are
     multiple "Reply-To:" addresses.

  o  Lots more, of course!

A full list of new features and bug fixes can be found in the MX V3.3
release notes.

HOW TO GET MX V3.3 VIA ANONYMOUS FTP
====================================
You can get MX V3.3 via anonymous ftp from ftp.spc.edu in [.MX.MX033].
The file MX033.ZIP is a Zip archive that contains the VMSINSTAL kits for
MX V3.3. The sources for MX can be found in MX033_SRC.ZIP. If you
prefer to start with just the documentation, that can be found in
MX033_DOCS_ONLY.ZIP.

FTP note: these files are also available via anonymous ftp from
niord.shsu.edu in [.MX033.ZIPSETS]. A third ftp site is
riscy.cc.utexas.edu in [.MX033].  Riscy.cc.utexas.edu is a temporary
site set up to alleviate the strain on the other two sites.

HOW TO GET MX V3.3 VIA E-MAIL
=============================
You can get MX via e-mail too, but be warned: it comes in 149 60-block
parts!! It's huge.... Because my BITNET links upstream are still
clogged, MX033 will temporarily *not* be available from WKUVX1.BITNET.

It is available from FILESERV@SHSU.BITNET (FILESERV@Niord.SHSU.EDU) and
from FILESERV@RISCY.CC.UTEXAS.EDU.

SPECIAL NOTE TO BITNET SITES: MX V3.3 is also available from Eric Thomas's
VMS Store. If you're on BITNET, this is the best way for you to go---the
files are sent in VMSDUMP format.
