If so, how did you do it? (This is on Alpha, VMS V8.3.) HP brought the support back in- house in the early 2000s. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 May 2008 15:39:27 -0400 From: John Reagan Subject: Re: EDS and LSE Message-ID: Galen wrote: > Does anyone know if EDS still has any involvement with LSE? EDS was just the maintainer for the VAXset components MUCH MUCH later. Our internal LSE notesfile was created on 10-JAN-1984 (and still exists and is active today). BTW, VAXset was originally named PSE ("Programming Support Environment") -- John Reagan OpenVMS Pascal/Macro-32/COBOL Project Leader Hewlett-Packard Company ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 May 2008 16:01:46 -0400 From: JF Mezei Subject: Re: EDS and LSE Message-ID: <4829f449$0$12307$c3e8da3@news.astraweb.com> John Reagan wrote: > Digital developed in the Technical Languages and Tools group. BTW, VAXset was originally named PSE ("Programming > Support Environment") IS Vaxset (or whatever it is called today) still actively developped, or has it been under maintenance mode since the days it was sent to EDS ? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 May 2008 13:11:32 -0700 (PDT) From: IanMiller Subject: Re: EDS and LSE Message-ID: <7d3df46a-2927-4aa3-abb3-5b55bd3c5e4c@b1g2000hsg.googlegroups.com> DECset V12.8 came out last year and there was an ECO this year ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 May 2008 16:28:16 -0400 From: John Reagan Subject: Re: EDS and LSE Message-ID: JF Mezei wrote: > > IS Vaxset (or whatever it is called today) still actively developped, or > has it been under maintenance mode since the days it was sent to EDS ? > Active development. As Ian mentioned, V12.8 was the latest release. LSE added various things including ODS-5 support for filenames, updated language templates, bugfixes, etc. CMS added better support for storing binary files, etc. At this point, what major new feature would you want to see? -- John Reagan OpenVMS Pascal/Macro-32/COBOL Project Leader Hewlett-Packard Company ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 May 2008 18:55:00 -0700 (PDT) From: wayne.sewell@gmail.com Subject: Re: OpenVMS Encryption Message-ID: <13e01916-cfb4-4205-b732-c1afd850e6de@a9g2000prl.googlegroups.com> On Apr 22, 10:33 am, "Paul" wrote: > Hi, > > There have been some recent postings regarding Encryption for OpenVMS. Has anything been announced with regards to wether EDS will be melted into HP with HP branding etc, or whether it may remain a separate entity with the EDS branding ? I think that the services divisions of both IBM and I suspect HP are fairly agnostic in terms of systems. They want the money, and they want to be seen to be able to support any/all systems. However, when the time comes for a customer to want advise on what to buy, the HP services will not have as much credibility as an independant firm (since they will be pitching HP systems). ------------------------------ Date: 13 May 2008 18:01:21 GMT From: VAXman- @SendSpamHere.ORG Subject: Re: Scrolling wheel support on VMS Message-ID: <4829d771$0$15162$607ed4bc@cv.net> In article , cook@wvnvms.wvnet.edu (George Cook) writes: >In article , "Tom Linden" writes: >> On Mon, 12 May 2008 06:11:09 -0700, George Cook >> wrote: >> >>> As far as images sent as attachments, Xv or Mosaic can display just >>> about any image. Can one dynamically turn a terminal into a TFF one, of must this be done prior to any channels being assigned to it ? When you create a TNA device, does this cause a channel to be assigned to it to keep the device "alive" ? ------------------------------ End of INFO-VAX 2008.268 ************************
